The Vanguard is an intimate, purpose built live music venue and restaurant that plays host to the greats of Australian and international music. With a 1920's feel to the interior, the Vanguard's friendly and unpretentious luxury has an ambience unlike any other. Our aim is to provide patrons with an elegant and stylish restaurant, which provides live entertainment, highlighting some of Newtown and Sydney's most talented musicians.

Following their recent Triffids reunion shows, Jill Birt and Alsy MacDonald come to The Vanguard to perform an eclectic mix of classics and new songs from Jill's soon to be released debut album. With special guests The Morning Night featuring Adrian Hoffmann.
Adele Pickvance and Glenn Thompson first met in 1996 in a practice room in Brisbane to accompany Robert Forster during his enigmatic solo career. In each other, they found a good friend, and an inspiring stage and studio accomplice. Later Adele went on to join The Dave Graney Show and Glenn joined Brisbane popsters Custard before both of them came together again to record and tour with the reformed Go-Betweens.
Now they're coming to The Vanguard to launch their new album Carrington Street.

No matter which way you look at it, Perth blues-rock trio The Floors are a live band. Brothers Luke and Ryan Dux - troubadours who play not only with The Floors but also with Kill Devil Hills and Timothy Nelson And The Infidels - took home West Australian Music Industry Awards (WAMI) for Best Guitarist and Best Bassist respectively, in both 2009and 2010... all based on the strength of live performance.
