Fronted by the smoking Betty Bombshell, Rocket To Memphis have been leaving audiences dishevelled since 2006, with their unique style and knee-trembling live performances. Blazing a rockin' trail across 4 continents, the Perth band has had hips a-shakin' in cities as far-flung as London and Tokyo - and they've shared the stage with international stars such as Slim Jim Phantom (Stray Cats), Darrell Higham (UK, Imelda May), and cult heroes like The Scientists, Zombie Ghost Train and Tokyo Cramps (Japan) along the way.
The band worked with New York rockabilly guru Matt Verta-Ray (Jon Spencer's Heavy Trash) on their last two albums. The latest Do The Crawl is their 4th release and will be hot off the press for this show at the Vanguard, along with a limited edition vinyl 7" - the irresistibly-dancable Go Go! Infectious and fun, Do The Crawl captures the band's distinctive, off-kilter take on rockabilly, swamp and garage rock n roll - this is the sound of Rocket To Memphis and and their hip shakin' voodoo rock n roll!
Very special guests for their Sydney launch show are German rockabilly stars The Booze Bombs, on their first visit to Sydney. With the powerful vocals of Annie Leopardo and a stompin' live show, this wild rockabilly outfit are a must-see! Opening the show are sensational local rockin' cats the Pat Capocci Combo. Having just released their brand new
album Call of the Wild Pat and the boys are on fire at the moment and without doubt one of the hottest rockabilly acts in the country.
